Based in Milan, ICF Furniture began life in the 1950s as part of a group of companies that were instrumental in establishing the Italian design scene. Innovation is at the heart of what ICF do: they were the first Italian firm to produce partition walls back in 1965, and have been innovating ever since. The fact that ICF reproduced replica Charles Eames designs is also little known: the company had manufacturing rights to produce licensed originals until January 1986, after which time Vitra were awarded sole manufacturing rights for the Middle East and Europe.
ICF's philosophy is simple: they believe that research and design should be corporate values. They work hard on every single detail of the furniture that they produce, ensuring that they find solutions to any possible problems involving aesthetics, performance, value and quality of their furniture.
When first launched, the company based its furniture designs on those from iconic pieces of furniture from days gone by. Nowadays, while ICF pieces still take some inspiration from those modern classics, their range of truly international designs is based on their desire to seek imaginative, innovative and diverse solutions to the issues that face the modern office environment.
The Italian furniture producer uses a wide variety of materials to craft their quality office furniture: working with leather, textiles, wood, laminate and aluminium, they create office furniture that is designed to withstand the test of time. Their Milan base gives them access to a number of the very best Italian suppliers who are also located in the city, with these suppliers producing components that are then assembled by ICF at their own factory.
While a number of other designers that we showcase at Iconic Interiors focus on furniture for the home, ICF work solely with office furniture. Their range encompasses a wide variety of furniture types and styles, all of which we intend to stock for our customers.
The office seating range from ICF is extensive, including a variety of office chairs that can be customised to suit each customer's individual needs. The range includes both high and low backed options, chairs and stools, those with castors or glides or those that are designed to be static as well as the choice of chairs with or without arms. The Una low backed office chair alone, for example, is available with a choice of frames, a range of materials and colours for the seat and back, a choice of sizes and the option of either castors or glides which are more suitable for wooden flooring.
In addition, ICF also produce meeting and office tables, as well as lounge seating solutions that are perfect for meeting rooms and reception areas. In the future, we will also be stocking their Active Wall System: a modular unit that can be used as a bookcase, filing system or storage unit and which can be configured in a huge number of different ways.
