• The new Eames style office chairs have arrived

  Over the eight years I have been running Iconic Interiors, one thing that has amazed me is how the quality of the reproductions I come across seems to get better and better. Each year they seem to get closer to the real thing, and I see it as crucial to our development, as well as being a personal endeavour, to ensure that we are constantly searching for the best products from the best factories for our customers.

  In the words of Monty Python, now for something completely different. This news item is more of an appeal to ask our customers, visitors and all those with a benevolent streak in them to sponsor me in my attempt at completing the Great North Run this September in aid of the Guide Dogs. I have enjoyed running for a number of years and have decided that I’d like a charity to benefit from my masochistic streak, and the more I learn about the Guide Dogs and the work they do the more I realise just what an amazing organisation they are. • Introducing the PK9 Dining Chair

  The wait is over – at last I have added a beautiful piece to the dining room collection that I’ve been after for some time! A carefully sourced supplier has produced this wonderful Poul Kjaerholm inspired PK9 ‘Tulip’ Dining Chair which I have fallen in love with. From its brushed stainless steel stem to its elegantly curved leather seat, this delightful item is perfect for those who like a sprig or two of sophistication with their dining. Part-chair part-sculpture, this lovely piece is deceptively simple in its appearance, for Kjærholm was well-known for combining art with technical brilliance and used complex design methods to create furniture that appears minimal and simple, but is actually a triumph of construction.

• We’re celebrating two years of making the Eames Lobby chair in the UK

  Our upholsterers mentioned a few weeks ago they had been working on our Eames Lobby chairs now for two years. How time flies. It was June 1st 2010 when we approached them with the idea of having the chair upholstered here in East Yorkshire. To celebrate we commissioned the upholsterers to make a funky version of the chair using a mix of vibrant colours.

  We chose a mix of vibrant coloured leathers from our store room and popped them down to the upholsterer’s workshop. We had no idea how the finished chair would look. It would either be a complete disaster or a breath of fresh air for this classic chair design.
